During a routine inspection
The service took steps to ensure people were not at risk of malnutrition. People bought and prepared their own food. However, one person did not have any cooking facilities at the service, and told us they were only able to eat cold food because of this.
People were supported to manage their own medications. The service had arrangements in place for the obtaining and recording of medications. One person told us "they give me a new lot (of medications) on Sunday. I never run out."
We found there were enough staff working at the service to meet people's needs. Records were stored securely.

During a routine inspection
People told us they were happy with the physical environment. One person said "I like my room, it is very good the way it is designed." We saw that people were able to access communal areas of the home. Various health and safety checks had been carried out to ensure the environment was safe, although the fire alarms had not been serviced within the past year.
We found that checks were carried out on staff before they began working at the service. These included Criminal Records Bureau checks and employment references. The service had a complaints procedure, and people told us they knew who they could complain to if they wanted to. One person said "I would talk to Roger (the manager), he sorts things out."
