During a routine inspection
People received sufficient information about the services provided and their individual treatment options to enable them to make informed decisions about treatment. A medical history was taken for each person and checked as part of their consultation and treatment.
There were suitable safeguarding and emergency arrangements in place in order to
ensure patient safety. One person said, 'I have full confidence in the dentist when I am receiving treatment.'
There were effective systems in place for the decontamination of instruments and to reduce the risk of infection. The dental practice was visibly clean and provided a comfortable environment to be treated in. One person said, "The practice has taken account of people's needs in making improvements to the practice environment and it is a relaxing place to visit."
Staff were appropriately supported, received suitable training and professional development and were registered with their professional bodies.
The practice was taken over by the current provider in January 2013 and at the time of the inspection had been undergoing refurbishment. The provider had changed opening times during this period but much of the work had been completed and normal opening times would shortly be restored.
