Updated 20 September 2024

Quality assurance systems were in place, these included audits of a range of areas to be carried out by the manager, staff and the regional manager. Audits were being completed regularly, they were identifying shortfalls and actions were being added to the service action plan to address these. There was a management structure in place and staff knew their roles and felt supported. People’s care records were now accurate and complete. Regular training and supervision were now in place for staff. Relatives told us the home was well managed and they were happy with the service their loved ones were receiving. They had received questionnaires to provide feedback to the home. At the last assessment we found concerns around effective governance systems being in place. At this assessment we found improvement had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulation.

Score: 3

Staff supervisions were now being completed and team meetings were held quarterly. Care plan reviews were conducted. Care plans contained consistent information about the support people required regarding nutrition, mobility and health conditions. Staff told us handovers and daily meetings were held and provided the information they needed to do their jobs. Staff told us the manager and other senior staff were approachable. A staff member said, “The management are supportive each and every time.” The manager and regional manager told us care plan audits, and mental capacity audits were completed. The service had a service action plan which was broken down into various areas. Actions required from audits completed then fed into the main action plan. We saw evidence of this during our inspection. The home manager and other senior managers had oversight of the set actions, time frames and progress being made.

The service had a clear management and staffing structure. Staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities. Meetings were held to ensure the safety of people and effective communication between management and staff. The service had quality assurance systems which included regular audits of a range of areas. Care plan and call bell audits were completed monthly. The audits were detailed, and actions were generated where any changes were required. There were a range of trackers and action plans in place to provide the service with oversight of staff training and plan forthcoming training provision. Training records showed mandatory training was up to date. However non mandatory training and historic competency assessments completed were currently held in staff personnel files, which meant it was not easily accessible to provide oversight of when training refreshers may be required. The regional manager said this would be addressed.
