During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

Our last inspection on 4 December 2013 identified some concerns that the provider did not have an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that clients received.

We asked the provider to send us a report of the changes they would make to comply with the standards they were not meeting.

We found that the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that clients receive.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Our inspection on June 17th 2013 found that the provider did not always regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service provided. The provider wrote to tell us they would address the concerns raised. During this inspection we found that the provider had not taken sufficient action to address the identified concerns.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to four patients who used the service. They spoke very positively about the clinic. One person told us 'The staff are professional and caring and truly excellent at putting me at ease'.

We saw documents which confirmed that all professionally practicing staff at the practice held relevant current registrations for example with the General Medical Council (GMC). We also saw documents which confirmed that the provider held checks with the disclosure and barring service (DBS).

We spoke to two members of staff about their infection control and hygiene practices throughout consultation. These are required in order to minimise the risk of cross infection between equipment, patients and staff. They described clear processes and procedures. One patient also told us "The standards of hygiene and cleanliness are faultless'.

We saw that the service did not have a Quality Assurance policy. We found that regular audits had not been completed for example for health and safety, infection control, cleaning of the practice and quality of record-keeping.
