During a routine inspection
During our inspection we looked at three staff recruitment files to check whether robust procedures were in place to safeguard people who used the service. We saw that the person's full employment history had not been requested on the service's application form. The provider would not know whether a new staff member had previously worked with children or vulnerable adults and could not make the appropriate checks as to why such employment had ceased if they had.
We saw that the service had a complaints policy that had been reviewed in August 2013. The policy required that any complaint was recorded in a central record and acknowledged immediately. The complaint would then be investigated by a senior staff member and a full written response sent to the person who made the complaint.
We saw that where changes had been made to the service provided to people the care plan had not been updated to reflect the changes. We also saw that the record of complaints was inaccurate.
