All Inspections

18 June 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service and relatives. Most of the people we spoke with said the service was very good, they said it was, 'Excellent' and 'Marvellous.' They were given information about the support available to them. They said they were involved in decisions about their care and the staff treated them with respect. One person said the staff were, 'Very caring, very friendly, nice people.' Another said, 'What ever I want they will do it.'

People said they usually had the same carer visit them each day. One person told us, 'All the staff are very good, I always know who is coming every week.' They were supported in promoting their independence and the staff encouraged people to take control of their own care and support.

Staff had received protection of vulnerable adults training. They were able to describe different types of abuse and indicators of possible abuse. They knew what action to take if they had any concerns that a person was being harmed.

Staff spoke positively about the care they provided. They told us they liked their jobs and were supported by their managers. They were given enough time to carry out their role and were able to seek advice from senior staff when they needed it.

The provider had established an annual quality assurance programme to monitor and assess the quality of the service. Surveys for the current year were still being completed. The provider told us the findings would be used to prepare an annual improvement plan.
