During an inspection looking at part of the service

We visited Walpole Specialists Limited to look at the care and treatment provided to people who used the service. This was a follow up visit to see if the service had made improvements to their recruitment process after our visit in November 2013.

We saw that the provider had carried out a review of staff files. There was now a system in place to ensure the required information was obtained before people where employed at the service. This meant that the provider carried out appropriate checks. They ensured staff were of good character and had the necessary skills and experience to meet the needs of people that used the service.

During a routine inspection

We visited Walpole Specialists Limited to look at the care and treatment provided to people who used the service. During our inspection we spoke with seven people who had used the service and three of the staff. We observed a consultation session and looked at a sample of patient files.

All of the people we spoke with were very happy with the service. One person told us 'It's a good service with pleasant and helpful staff.' Another person said 'They are extremely professional and accommodating to fit my lifestyle.' A third person told us 'They are very organised and make time for me, I never feel like I am being rushed. I feel I am getting a good quality of care.'

People told us that they felt respected by staff, and were able to take part in decisions about their treatment. One person said 'They gave me a good explanation of my problems and we went through all my options.'

People told us that they felt their needs had been met by the service. Medical histories were reviewed before treatment was given. People said they were able to get appointments when they needed them.

We saw that rooms were clean, and well maintained. People we spoke with were happy with the standard of cleanliness in the practice.

We saw that some recruitment information in the staff records was not available at the time of our visit.

All of the people we spoke with were happy with the service, and had never felt the need to make a complaint.
