During a routine inspection
People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. Information was given to people so they could contact someone if their carer did not turn up.
The people we spoke with said they felt safe when staff came to visit them. One person said, "Oh yes I always feel safe." Some staff had not received safeguarding training. We saw a completed investigation report and resulting disciplinary letter which showed that the service had taken an allegation of abuse seriously and responded appropriately.
Staff did not always receive supervision and appraisals. However when asked about support, one staff member said, 'I always feel I can call them if I have any problems.'
Quality monitoring questionnaires and home visits were completed annually. One person we spoke with said 'Every year they do a review, go through the care plan and ask for comments.' The monitoring process for staff training, appraisal and supervision were not in place.
We found that people were aware of the organisations complaints policy, were able to make complaints and the service responded appropriately when a complaint had been made.
