Staff told us they promoted peoples independence and involved people with decisions when supporting them. A staff member told us, "I do try promote independence like for them to do whatever they can for themselves like washing their back or legs while I watch them ready to help them if needed." The registered manager told us care plans included how independence can be promoted and people were involved in care planning and reviews to ensure they received personalised support based on their preferences.

People were involved in decisions about their care and how they would like to be supported. A person told us, "Yes, I have been involved in all decisions about my daily care support." Another person commented, "Yes, I was involved with all decisions about my support with both the agency and social worker." People also confirmed they were encouraged to be independent when being supported by staff. A person told us, "Yes, I am encouraged to do as much for myself as is possible." Another person commented, "Yes, with help from carers, I am trying hard to remain as independent as possible."
