During a routine inspection

Momentum Care Services is a new domiciliary care agency which started providing care and support to people in the Coventry area in October 2013. At the time of our visit the service was providing 80 hours of support to seven people. Most of the people using the service were receiving 'promoting independence' packages. They were people who had recently been discharged from hospital and needed some support to provide them with confidence in areas such as washing, dressing and cooking. During our visit we spoke to the manager and two care staff. We subsequently spoke by telephone to two people who used the service and three relatives.

People we spoke with were happy with the care they or their relative received. They confirmed staff generally arrived on time and were able to do everything recorded in the support plans without rushing. Comments included:

'I cannot say how happy I am. It has been marvellous. I have had so much help.'

'They seem to be very organised and do the job well.'

New staff recruited to the service had an induction which covered mandatory training and a period of shadowing a more experienced member of staff.

The staff we spoke with knew what to do to keep people safe.

There were processes in place to assess the quality of service and seek people's opinions about the service provided.
