During a routine inspection

During this inspection on 25 January 2013 we spoke with six people who were attending the practice for treatment. One person said, 'My dentist is alright. I usually see the same dentist who does explain the treatment options and the related charges'. Another person described a previous experience with one dentist employed at the practice as, 'Not good", but did not elaborate on this. They said they were satisfied now, because they had since changed their dentist at the practice. Another person said, 'There are sometimes difficulties when there is nobody to answer the telephone', although they stated this had not altered their view that their treatment was good.

All staff had undertaken safeguarding training. The policy for safeguarding children did not include what guidelines the practice was following to ensure children were suitably protected from abuse.

The practice's infection control processes that we observed ensured that people were kept safe from the risk of infection.

The premises were comfortable, safe and appropriately maintained for their purpose. We were advised that further internal refurbishment had been planned.
