All Inspections

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

An inspection was conducted on 30th May 2013 and a compliance action was set for Regulation 13 Management of medicines. This was because medicines were being stored in open box's in a kitchen cupboard and not securely in a locked personalised cabinet.

The provider has now told us that on 3rd May 2013 a safe has been installed in each of the two bedrooms and that they are opened with a pin code or a key.

This will be reviewed at the next inspection

The provider has also told us that although the house does not have a landline it does have its own mobile telephone and this number is given to relatives. We have used this telephone to contact the service and can confirm that this is correct.

30 May and 11 June 2013

During a routine inspection

During the inspection we found that the staff members on duty interacted well with the person staying at the service and treated them with dignity and respect. They were also knowledgeable about the service that was provided, the individuals that stayed there and their families.

One family member told us they were happy with the care provided and their relative always returned home happy and settled. Another told us that the service was '' really really suitable'' and their relative was very happy to attend as they went out in the local community during their stay.

We were also told that occasionally people returned home without all of their belongings and that having a landline telephone in the service would be beneficial. This was because when a relative wanted to phone the service they had to phone the mobile phone number of the staff members. This was more expensive and sometimes the number had changed and they were not aware of it.

Visiting professionals had recorded comments that included '' staff had represented the service well when families had visited'' and they were positive about staff supporting people in the local community during their stay at the service.

The current manager was in the process of leaving the service and the provider told us that a new person had been identified. When appointed this person will apply for registration with the Care Quality Commission.

16 January and 11 February 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four members of staff, a relative, a visiting health professional and a purchaser. Because of the nature of the disability of the person using the service on the day of the inspection they were not able to provide verbal input. However they did appear to be comfortable and settled in their surroundings.

A relative told us that '' everything has been fine there were a few teething problems but these have been ironed out''.

The visiting health professional told us that the staff demonstrated good communication and record keeping and provided relevant feedback. They also said that training provided was well attended.

We spoke with a purchaser who told us that there were no issues or concerns from them with the provider.
