During a routine inspection
We found the dental surgery clean and hygienic and we saw that there were efficient arrangements made to safely clean and sterilise dental instruments and to minimise risks to patients. The patients we spoke with told us they had no concerns about cleanliness. One patient said, 'it's always clean, no problem at all.' We found that there were detailed records of the dental treatment provided and that patients were involved in discussions about their dental treatment. One patient told us, 'they always explain exactly what's needed and show me on the computer.'
There were records to confirm that regular testing and servicing of the equipment used had been carried out and there were a range of audits which demonstrated that the quality of the service and risks associated with it were being regularly checked. Patients had been asked to provide feedback through a survey.
Staff told us they felt supported and had access to training. We saw records which confirmed that staff were provided with relevant training and that they were provided with other support such as team meetings, staff induction and the provision of relevant dental care information.
