During a routine inspection
We were told that St Luke's Care currently provides personal care for 15 people and employed one manager, nine care staff, two team leaders and an administrator.
We spent two days visiting St Luke's Care. On the first day we met with the manager and spoke with three care staff. We also reviewed the paperwork held at the registered office and observed how people's queries were handled by the team leaders in the office.
On the second day we visited three people in their homes and met with them. We also spoke with two relatives.
We found that the agency had systems in place to ensure people's consent was being sought both formally and on a day to day basis.
We found that people's care needs were being met and this was in line with their needs, choices and expectations.
We found that people were safeguarded against the possibility of abuse by staff who were recruited safely and trained in this area.
We found that the agency was ensuring they were monitoring the quality of the service. In November 2013 they had undertaken an audit of all areas of the agency and identified weaknesses. They had set an action plan to address this with timescales attached by which they aimed to have put the changes in place.
