Our view of the service
Drayton Village Care Centre is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 91 people aged 65 and over with care needs, general nursing support and end of life care. At the time of the inspection there were 84 people living at the home. We carried out an onsite assessment at Drayton Village care centre 28 February 2024 and 29 February 2024 and a on an offsite assessment which was completed on the 4 March 2024. At the previous inspection on 18 and 20 January 2023 we rated the Key Questions of Safe and Well Led as requires Improvement. The provider has made improvements to the service which means the key questions of Safe and Well Led are now rated Good. The overall rating of the location has improved to Good. The provider had made improvements to the recording of incidents and accidents which included identifying any actions which could be taken to reduce further risk and this information as included in the person’s care plan and risk assessments. There was a robust process for recruiting new staff. We identified that additional staff were required on the ground floor unit, and this was discussed with the registered manager, regional manager and director of the company during the assessment. They arranged for an additional staff member to be added to the daytime rota provide additional support. The provider had a process the reporting and investigating of safeguarding concerns. There was a procedure for infection prevention and control. The home was clean and there were no malodours. Staff were supported to raise questions or concerns. Staff felt supported by the provider and gave positive feedback about the registered manager and senior management
People's experience of this service
People felt safe when they received care and support from the staff at the home. People and relatives knew how to raise any concerns they may have about the care. People who lived on the ground floor commented that they were not always enough staff on duty which was resolved during the assessment.
