Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 10 April 2024

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. We carried out our on-site assessment on the 21 April 2024, off site assessment activity started on 10 April 2024 and ended on 29 April 2024. During this assessment we looked at 2 quality statements: Involving people to manage risks and Equity in experiences and outcomes. The inspection was prompted in part due to concerns received about people’s involvement in the management of risk, and how people are protected from risks which may cause harm. A decision was made for us to inspect. We found no evidence during this inspection that people were at risk of harm from these concerns.

People's experience of the service

Updated 10 April 2024

People told us they felt safe at Beach House. One person stated, “Yes I'm safe. I like it here. Happy. Happy.” We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. During our SOFI, we observed people being supported in ways which promoted their independence and saw staff adapting their approach when moving between people to involve each person fully in tasks, offering choice and control. A relative informed us, “I can't praise them enough. (Name) is so well looked after, treated with dignity, love and affection by every member of staff.”
