During a routine inspection
All of the people we spoke with told us dentists asked for their agreement before doing any diagnostic assessments or providing any treatment. One person commented: 'The options were quite confusing, but to be fair, they gave me time to go away and think about it.'
We did not speak with patients about how they were protected from abuse, but we watched while three children were seen by a dentist. The dentist asked parents about their care of their children's teeth and mouths and gave advice about effective care. Staff knew how to report any concerns about possible abuse of children or vulnerable adults.
We found that the provider supported staff to keep their training and practice up to date. They regularly checked the quality of the service and made improvements as a result of those checks. The people we spoke with could not remember being asked for their views about the service, but we saw that satisfaction surveys were readily available for patients to complete and the provider analysed the results of completed surveys.
