Our view of the service

Drummond Court is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 36 people. The service provides support to autistic people and/or people with a learning disability, who may also have a physical disability. People at Drummond Court live in bungalows and flats across one site. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. We carried out an assessment of this service to look at 7 quality statements within the 4 key questions of safe, effective, caring and responsive. The assessment included a site visit on 12 February 2024, at the time 21 people were living at Drummond Court. The service was meeting the underpinning principles of 'Right support, right care, right culture'. The ethos, values, attitudes and behaviours of leaders and care staff ensured people led confident, inclusive and empowered lives. People lived in a home that was open, positive, inclusive, and person-centred. Staff supported people in the least restrictive way possible, and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People enjoyed regular activities and interests both within and outside of the home.
