During a routine inspection
Patients told us they felt involved in their care and treatment and they felt respected by the staff. Their comments included: "Excellent, the staff are lovely" and "I get excellent care."
Staff were seen to be kind and courteous to patients, and the atmosphere throughout the hospital was calm and relaxed and staff did not hurry patients.
In the three care records we looked at we saw pre-admission assessments had been carried out. Staff confirmed that home circumstances would be taken into consideration when planning discharge for a patient. Two patients told us of the arrangements being made for their discharge home.
Patients were protected by a clean environment and the control of infection was well managed. The hospital also adhered to a robust recruitment procedure in order to protect patients.
The staff we spoke with told us they enjoyed working at the hospital, and said they felt supported, both by their colleagues and seniors.
Patients told us that staff were kind and caring, and all said they would feel able to complain if they felt the need to do so. A complaints procedure was in place and patients were given information about how to make a complaint if required.
