During a routine inspection
We saw that the practice had a system for gaining consent and that treatment plans were consistently completed. Clear written information was provided to patients about their individual treatment options and the various costs involved.
We examined eight patient records and found that patient's oral and medical health had been comprehensively assessed. For example, checks had been carried out for tooth decay, gum health, jaw and facial examinations and oral cancer checks.
The practice had effective systems in place to reduce the risk and the spread of infection. We found that infection control procedures were in line with current guidelines from the Department of Health.
We found that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place for the recruitment and management of staff, and the staff had had the necessary recruitment checks.
All aspects of the day to day running of the practice was monitored. This had been reviewed and updated at regular intervals. The provider told us and we saw that regular audits and risk assessments had been carried out to ensure that the
practice could evidence and deliver a consistent quality service and make improvements where necessary.
