We made two visits to the service on 26 October 2012 and 20 November 2012. People we spoke with said that the service they received from the surgery was good and that they were very satisfied with it. They felt that their dignity was maintained and their privacy protected. People told us that the staff were pleasant and polite, that appointments were flexible to meet their needs and that they were always accommodated with an emergency appointment if they had a problem. People said that the dentists listened to them and talked through the different treatment options available. People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan.
Dentists and staff had knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures in place to appropriately deal with these.
People said they found that the surgeries and reception area always looked clean but we found that the process for sterilisation of instruments was not adequate.
There was a system in place for quality assurance which took into account the views of patients.
