During a themed inspection looking at Domiciliary Care Services
The inspection team was led by a CQC inspector and joined by an Expert by Experience, (someone who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of service).
We used telephone interviews and home visits to talk with people who used the service and their main carers (relatives or friends) to gain their views about the service.
We visited four people in their own homes and spoke with them and their relatives. We also spoke with three care workers during the inspection and the manager when we visited the office on the 18 October 2012.
All of the people we spoke with said that the care workers treated them with respect. They told us that they felt their care was provided in line with their needs, choices and preferences. One relative said, 'They make (the person who used the service) feel comfortable by talking nicely and I often hear them laughing together which is nice.' A person who used the service said, 'They are normal, natural it is human contact and so important.'
People told us that care staff always asked them how they would like to be addressed.
