During a routine inspection
We looked at the records of five people. They included personal information, medical history including medication and allergies, information about any consultations, and treatment provided. Records detailed advice given about treatment options and guidance about areas such as nutrition and smoking. One person using the service confirmed patient information was regularly checked to ensure it was accurate.
There were procedures in place for dealing with medical emergencies. Senior staff completed life support and medical emergency training annually and less experienced staff were trained in first aid.
The standard of the environment throughout the practice was good and appeared clean, tidy and well maintained. A number of infection prevention and control measures were in place providing clear instruction for staff on processes such as cleaning and decontamination of equipment. The practice had systems in place to record and audit for the purpose of ensuring infection control policies were followed.
Sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff were employed. The provider had an effective system in place for handling complaints.
