During a routine inspection
We examined the one record available for the person who had received treatment. We found it was well completed and that the service user had given informed consent for the procedure that they had received. The record assured us that the care was person centred, that the service user had been fully assessed, the treatment was appropriate and in accordance with their wishes.
The self-employed medical practitioner that the clinic contracted with to provide the minor surgical procedures offered was on the GMC register. The personnel file we examined for the medical practitioner provided evidence that appropriate recruitment procedures were in place and that they were appropriately qualified.
The clinic was clean and tidy on the day we inspected. There was evidence of infection control audits having taken place. We asked the manager to consider reviewing the arrangements for the storage and disposal of clinical waste generated by the Bournemouth and another local clinic.
