At the time of our last inspection, in January 2012, the hospital was carrying out surgery but this was no longer being carried out here. People now attended this hospital for initial consultations with hospital staff about cosmetic and gastric procedures. They then had surgery at another hospital owned by the organisation and then returned here for after care appointments, including wound care.During this inspection we visited the hospital on 13 December 2012 and then we spoke with the manager and people who had received a service by telephone on 31 December 2012.
The people we spoke with who had attended this hospital spoke highly of the staff and the service that they had received there. They said that they had received good information prior to their surgery and that the staff had answered all their questions. One person said that the staff were, "splendid, marvellous", and another said that the service was, "brilliant".
Staff who we spoke with were clear about their roles and responsibilities. They said that they received appropriate training and support to carry out their roles effectively. We saw care records which showed that people's consent was sought prior to treatment and that clear records were made of consultations and treatment that took place.
Staff received basic training which included training about safeguarding vulnerable adults. Staff were clear about their responsibility to take action if they were concerned about abuse of any type.
