During a routine inspection

The service specialises in providing support to people affected by autism, particularly Asperger syndrome. The support is provided at people's homes and the service also enables access to the community. The provider advised that the service supported approximately 23 people.

During our inspection we spoke with three people who used the service, this included visiting two people at their home. We also spoke with three relatives of the people who used the service, four members of staff and the registered manager.

The majority of people we spoke with provided positive feedback regarding their experience of the service. Comments included 'the staff treat you well and provide good support','I feel listened to completely' and 'the support is enhancing my independence'.

We viewed four care plans. We found that the care plans were detailed and specific to the individual's needs and preferences.

Staff were knowledgeable about the people they supported and they were provided with training appropriate to their roles. They all had a good awareness of safeguarding and the reporting mechanisms that were in place. We found that staff were regularly supervised and appraised. Staff members we spoke with told us 'the training is very good' and 'it's a lovely team and we're well supported'.

We found that the provider had a system in place to deal with complaints, including providing people who used the service with information about the procedure for raising concerns.
