During an inspection looking at part of the service
One person we spoke with said that they had been with the surgery for some time now and never had any reason to complain. They said they were given appropriate information, explained the procedures and given choices. They said they always found the surgery to be clean whenever they visited.
We found that the people who used the service and their relatives or carers were involved in their care planning and received personalised care and treatment which was based on an assessment of their needs. Records were maintained appropriately and securely, staff had received suitable training and there were appropriate safeguarding measures in place. However, we also found on the day of the inspection lack of suitable infection control practices in the storage and use of cleaning equipment and lack of appropriate cleaning of some equipment like the dental chair. The infection control checks and audits that the provider had in place did not adequately cover these aspects of care delivery.
