Our view of the service

We had previously undertaken a comprehensive inspection of Mrs E Dimitrijevic – Dental Surgery on 11 January 2024 and 19 March 2024, under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions and using our previous methodology. We found the registered provider was not providing well-led care and was in breach of Regulation 17 Good Governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We undertook a follow-up focused assessment on 9 August 2024. This assessment was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm if the practice was now meeting legal requirements. We found the practice was not meeting all regulations. Not all risks associated with undertaking of regulated activities had been identified and mitigated. An Electrical Installation Condition Report was deemed unsatisfactory with 15 potentially dangerous issues (Category 2) identified. Medicines and prescriptions were not managed in line with current guidance. Instruments were not stored in a sterile manner. There were no antimicrobial or record keeping audits Areas in the decontamination and treatment rooms were cluttered preventing effective and thorough cleaning. However, at the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. Mrs E Dimitrijevic – Dental Surgery is in Thundersley, Essex and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 1 dentist and 1 dental nurse. The practice had 1 treatment room. During the assessment we spoke with the dentist and the dental nurse. The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good Governance. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the quality statement section of the report. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this a
