During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our inspection in March 2013, we found that the provider was not compliant in some areas of infection control. We carried out this follow up inspection to check that the provider had taken the necessary action to ensure that all areas of non-compliance had been addressed.

During a routine inspection

Patients told us they felt able to express their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. This was supported by evidence we saw in records which included written treatment plans, and was further corroborated from our conversations with two patients.

Patient notes and medical records were kept in locked cabinets beneath the reception desk with the keys held in the receptionist's care.

One patient said 'they are very kind and were happy to talk everything through with me'.

In the surgery dirty, clean and clinical areas were not clearly delineated which meant there was a risk of the spread of infection.

Comprehensive records were kept on the training and qualifications of the staff who received appropriate professional development.
