During a routine inspection
We found that overall people were happy with the provider's services. People told us 'The nurses are spot on" and 'Can't complain about the nurses.' People told us that they were involved in decisions about the treatment and the options were clearly explained to them.
The men found that at times there were lengthy waits to see some of the visiting practitioners; the GP; and the provider's nurses. We found that staff shortages in the provider's nursing team inhibited the development of services and put increased demands them. Also we found that there were some variance in the GPs prescribing practices and they had discontinued completing a required risk assessment. Prior to the completion of the inspection the healthcare manager ensured the GPs recommenced completing these assessments.
We found that the directly provided services operated to a good standard and their working relationships with other healthcare organisations led to effective care being delivered. The healthcare manager proactively ran service and sought innovative ways to enable the men receive all types of specialist care.
