The practice is located centrally on the high street in Welwyn old town. This is a small practice with one dentist and two other staff members including a dental nurse and practice manager/receptionist.We spoke to several people who used this service during our follow up visit to the practice on 17 January 2013. Two people told us they were mostly happy with the service they received at this practice. However, one person told us that they had several concerns about the hygiene standards at the practice. Concerns were also raised about record keeping, and not being kept informed about changes to the pricing structure in the practice. There were also issues with poor communication.
Although the practice had some policy and procedures in place, it was clear from speaking to the provider and staff, that the policies and procedures were not being followed or implemented.
The practice did not undertake monitoring of the quality of the service being provided and staff were unable to confirm arrangements for several of the key outcome areas including safeguarding of vulnerable people as well as infection control arrangements within the practice.
