During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

We completed an inspection on 11 June 2013, where we found the provider was non-compliant with requirements relating to workers. We found that improvements were needed. We found that the provider had not routinely undertaken checks before staff began work.

After the inspection, the provider submitted an action plan to CQC which told us how they would comply with Regulation 21 HSCA 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010.

We followed up on our inspection of 11 June 2013 to check that action had been taken to comply with regulatory requirements.

We have not revisited The Dental Suite - JCB as part of this review because they were able to demonstrate that they were meeting the standard without the need for a visit.

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection to check on the care and welfare of people using this service.

On the day of the inspection we spoke with the registered manager and two dental nurses. We also spoke with five people who used the service.

We were told that people paid for private treatment at this dental practice through an employee membership scheme.

We spoke to people who had attended the surgery for consultations or treatment.

Everybody we spoke with told us they were happy with the treatment they received.

We found the dental practice to be clean and hygienic. There were systems in place which ensured the practice was cleaned in accordance with dental good practice guidelines.

We found that the staff team was suitably qualified for their roles. We found that although the dental practice had a detailed recruitment policy in place, they had not always followed this policy when recruiting staff.

People we spoke with told us the staff team was always helpful and friendly and appointments were arranged at a convenient time for them. People told us they would be comfortable making a complaint if they needed to.

One person told us: "I am happy with the treatment I receive. The staff are very good. It is easy to get an appointment. The surgery is always clean".

Another person told us: "I have had no problems with the dentist or my treatment. I am a nervous patient and have been very much put at ease'.
