All Inspections

14 November 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This inspection was to follow up on the findings from our previous inspection of 24th June 2013 to assess if action had been taken with regards to the concerns we identified.

We found that the provider had taken action to address concerns around not having systems in place that regularly identified, assessed and managed the risks relating to the health, welfare and safety of people who used the service. A Quality Assurance Policy was in place. This described a regular programme of audits that included, but was not limited to, infection control, records, Health and Safety and treatment effectiveness.

24 June 2013

During a routine inspection

Patients told us that if they had any questions or concerns the registered provider responded clearly ' explaining what they saw, what might happen, including any associated risks, and gave the patient a number of different treatment options. One person we spoke with told us 'They always go into great detail about everything. It is very clear.' Another person told us 'Yes, I always feel I am listened to and treated with respect'.

People we spoke with told us that the registered provider explained all the available treatment options and associated risks including other options available to them. One person said "Everything is written down for you in a letter in great detail and the nurse/specialist will go through it all with you too'.

We spoke with the staff member responsible for decontamination. The decontamination and sterilisation processes was explained to us and followed the Department of Health requirements for decontamination in dental practices.

The service did not have systems in place that regularly identified, assessed and managed the risks relating to the health, welfare and safety of people who used the service. We saw that the service did not have a Quality Assurance policy or processes in place.
