During a routine inspection

The pathology laboratory does not provide a direct service to patients but we asked the views of staff working at the hospital. Overall they told us they were satisfied with the pathology service provided by The Doctors Laboratory. They told us there had been some issues adjusting to the changes but these had been resolved over the past few months. We were told there was 'active communication' between the staff working at the Doctors Laboratory and the hospital staff.

Electronic reporting of results allowed instant access to results from any computer in the hospital. The pathology laboratory service was provided by trained and experienced staff. There was equipment in place which was serviced and checked on a regular basis to ensure it was fit for purpose.
