Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Comments included, “The service, treatment and client care that I have received from [staff member name] and the team has been outstanding, I have also had nothing but positive experiences with the receptionists, the dental nurses and the hygienist.” Also, “Upon entering this practice, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I find coming to the dentist a very nervous experience but the team at Clover make me feel relaxed.” Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. We were provided with a patient survey which indicated a very high level of satisfaction.

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff.

We did not receive any information from partner organisations.

The practice had installed closed-circuit television to improve security for patients and staff. Siting of CCTV cameras was appropriate and relevant signage was displayed. The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records, and paper records were stored securely and complied with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed multiple positive interactions between staff and patients both in person at the service and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to all patients.
