During a routine inspection
Patients were respected and involved in their care. A patient told us, "The dentist explains what my options are and we discuss this together".
We found that patient's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their care plan. Another patient told us, "This practice is excellent, they are looking after me very well".
We found that a safeguarding policy and procedures were in place. Staff were competent concerning safeguarding procedures. One dental nurse told us, "Safeguarding is very important, we always remain vigilant".
We saw the service maintained high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises. Staff told us, "We practice infection control very carefully to make sure there is no risk of infection, and we follow a decontamination protocol four times a day". One patient told us, "The place is always clean and smelling fresh".
The service had an effective system of audits concerning every aspect of the practice, an incident reporting system and a complaint policy with clear procedures. Patient's views were sought to identify how the service could improve.
