During a routine inspection

We found the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

We found that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed and they were treated in a clean and hygienic environment.

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. Emergency care could be provided in the event of an emergency, staff had been trained and appropriate equipment and emergency drugs were available.

We spoke to two people who used the service on the day of our visit. Each person was happy with the treatment provided at the practice. Comments included, "One day I rang at about 4pm. I was in pain and they got me in to see the dentist before they closed. Couldn't ask for more than that!" And, "I've no complaints. I've been coming here for years and wouldn't go anywhere else".

During a routine inspection

During our visit, we spoke with several patients who were visiting the practice. Everyone we spoke with expressed satisfaction with the service provided and spoke highly of the dentist and staff. Comments included;

'I feel I can always talk to them if I have any concerns. You are never made to feel silly.'

'I have been coming here for many years and would not want to go anywhere else. Everyone is extremely helpful and pleasant.'

'You feel as though you can ask questions. The dentist really seems to have time for you.'

We also viewed a selection of questionnaires that had been completed by patients as part of the practice's own quality assurance procedures. We saw that there had been an excellent response to a recent satisfaction survey with over 50 questionnaires completed in the month of February alone. Again, we found that patients expressed satisfaction with all aspects of the service. Some written comments included;

'It's a very professional surgery which is always friendly.'

'I cannot imagine how you could improve.'

'Highly professional in every respect.'

In answer to the question 'What should we continue doing?' One patient had responded by saying 'Being wonderful!'
