During a routine inspection
Patient records contained appropriate information and were securely kept. Patients we spoke with told us they were given options and informed of the choices available and the costs, before making decisions regarding treatment. The service was prepared for medical emergencies.
We toured the practice and found it to be clean and tidy. The decontamination of instruments was in line with Department of Health guidance.
The practice employed a principal dentist, an associate dentist, two dental nurses and a receptionist. We were able to speak to all staff during our inspection. Staff told us they felt supported in their roles and were given opportunities to complete all necessary training for their continued registration with the General Dental Council. We saw staff were appraised annually and attended regular team meetings.
Patients we spoke with were happy with the care provided. In the reception area a comments box was clearly on display. We reviewed the practice's complaints procedure and noted that no complaints had been raised in 2013.
