Well-led

Governance, management and sustainability
At the assessment on 18 December 2024, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation: The practice’s governance and leadership arrangements had improved to ensure sustainability in the longer term. Processes for identifying and managing risks had improved. There was improved oversight and effective systems in place for the monitoring of the risks associated with fire safety, electrical installations, control and storage of substances hazardous to health, lone working and the management of Legionella and medical emergencies. The practice’s infection control procedures and protocols had been improved, taking into account the guidelines issued by the Department of Health in the Health Technical Memorandum 01-05: decontamination in primary care dental practices. Recruitment processes had been strengthened and were in line with legislation. In particular, the practice had implemented a recruitment policy and had completed a Disclosure and Barring Service check to the appropriate level and obtained evidence of immunity against Hepatitis B for a staff member which was not available on the previous assessment. There was now a system in place to monitor staff training and to ensure that staff undertook periodic training updates in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines appropriate to their role. The practice had also made further improvements: The practice had implemented an effective system for monitoring Glucagon the medicine used to treat hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels) was stored according to manufacturer’s instructions. The practice had completed audits in record keeping.
