During a routine inspection
We saw records that confirmed that patients received appropriate examination and checks of medical histories, and all aspects of treatment were consented to, and signed by the patient.
We saw that the surgeries were clean, hygienic with appropriate dental equipment. We saw that the service followed the procedures and policies for infection control. Patients told us they were happy with the standard of cleanliness, and one told us “they always clean the surgery seat down.”
We spoke with five dental nurses and one associate dentist. They demonstrated an awareness of safeguarding issues and all had received training in relation to children and vulnerable adults. They told us that the practice encouraged training. They said that they had access to a range of training and seminars, necessary for skill development and to help them perform their role safely and well. Quality assurance systems were in place.
