During a routine inspection
Everybody we spoke with said they were 'very' satisfied with the service they received and had recommended the dental practice to their family and friends. People told us they were seen by the same dentist and were always seen on time. One new patient told us they were so impressed with the service they immediately telephoned their spouse who had recommended the dental practice to them. They said, 'The dentist was very very thorough. I didn't expect the degree of attention from my first visit. They are genuinely interested in your teeth. The staff are very efficient, friendly and were very attentive to me and my welfare. They were absolutely brilliant'.
People told us they had completed an oral health questionnaire and were regularly asked if there had been any changes to their health or any prescribed medication. A new patient told us they were most impressed as the dentist had clearly read their completed questionnaire before they were seen. They said during their consultation the dentist had asked them lots of questions about a health condition they had.
People said they felt fully involved in their treatment options and always received an estimate for any proposed work. They told us their check ups and treatment was thorough and included checks to their gums, soft tissues and x-rays, if required. People told us they were not given any unnecessary treatment.
Staff told us they felt valued and well supported. They said they were provided with very good opportunities to maintain and further develop their skills. One person told us, 'I have worked in a number of places and this one is outstanding'. Discussions with staff clearly evidenced they were very passionate about their work.
People we spoke with expressed no concerns in relation to the infection prevention and control. One person told us, 'The place is absolutely pristine. It's clutter free and the discipline is very good'. People confirmed that clinical staff always wore personal protective clothing such as a uniform, gloves and eye protection.
An infection prevention and control professional told us they had delivered training at Station House on 18/10/10 and visited the practice on 19/10/11 to review the decontamination room and look at their infection control policies. They told us they had "no concerns" about this practice.
