Governance, management and sustainability
At the assessment on 30 September 2024 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation: Missing items of medical emergency kit had been purchased and were available for use. A new systems had been implemented to ensure availability and effectiveness of medical emergency equipment. Logs were kept demonstrating checks completed. The provider had taken action to implement recommendations in the Legionella risk assessment. Evidence was available to demonstrate action taken to address the majority of issues for action identified in the March 2024 fire risk assessment . The risk assessment identified the need to install emergency lighting and an integrated fire alarm system. The provider had taken advice from an external professional and had been informed that this was not required due to the size and layout of the building, although there was no documentary evidence to demonstrate this. The management of fire safety was now effective. Improvements had been made to the practice's systems for checking and monitoring decontamination equipment. The provider had completed a dental care records audit and an antimicrobial prescribing audit. The May 2024 infection prevention and control audit identified a rip in the material of the chair in surgery 2, this issue for action had not been addressed. The radiography audit did not include the required sample size. The practice manager confirmed that going forward the radiography audit would include a larger sample size, and the rip in the material of the chair would be fixed. The provider had introduced a system for the on-going assessment, supervision and appraisal of staff.
