During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 5 November 2024. We found the practice had met all the regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. The practice is in Rotherhithe in the London borough of Southwark and provides NHS and a small provision of private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was a small step at the entrance and the practice had a portable ramp to provide access to wheelchair users and those with prams.ng spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist, the receptionist, the finance manager and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people using the service during the inspection; we also reviewed feedback that had been left by people on the NHS Choices website. Some of the comments that people said included "the dentist is great", "I have been coming here for a long time, I'm happy" and "I was given a copy of my treatment plan".

Consent forms, medical histories and patient declaration forms were kept in paper form. Treatment plans and care records were recorded electronically on the IT system. Records showed that dentists gave advice to people during consultations, and also explained the risks and benefits of different treatment options including the cost.

Records showed that staff cleaned the treatment rooms in between patients and that equipment was regularly checked and maintained. Training records showed that had received appropriate training.
