Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff helped patients to be involved in decisions about their care and gave patients clear information to help them make informed choices about their treatment. Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. We were provided with a patient survey; 100% of respondents were satisfied with their care.

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff.

We did not receive any information from partners.

The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records; however paper records were stored insecurely on open shelves behind the reception desk. Following our feedback, the provider indicated that they would address this by transferring the information into the digital patient management system and would consider implementing an electronic tablet to seamlessly record medical histories removing the need to store any paper-based records. We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
