During a routine inspection

We spoke with two patients of the practice, both of whom said the dentist always explains the procedures clearly and discusses any fears or concerns. We observed two consultations, and the dentist was knowledgeable and was able to put the patient at ease. The dentist clearly explained the procedures and obtained consent before proceeding.

We observed staff following best practice guidelines for surgical instrument decontamination and hygiene, and observed staff following correct hand hygiene procedures and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Staff had been trained in infection control and dealing with emergencies, and the service had robust policies and quality assurance mechanisms to protect patients from risk of harm.

The service had good recruitment practices, and all staff had been trained in the local procedures for safeguarding children. The staff received appropriate support at work and training opportunities were encouraged for all staff.

There were good systems in place for checking the quality of the service provided, and the provider acted on feedback from patients and made changes to improve the service.
