This dental practice had three treatment rooms and employed one dentist, two dental nurses and one therapist.During our inspection we spoke with the dentist and two nurses. We looked at the records for four people using the dental practice. We later spoke with one staff member and 20 people, or their relative, using the service.
People we spoke with told us that they gave consent to their care and treatment. One person told us, 'The dentist puts me at ease and explains things to me before any treatment.'
We saw that processes were in place to prevent infection. People we spoke with had no concerns about general cleanliness. We were told about the first floor refurbishment to create a separate decontamination room in line with best practice.
Recruitment processes had not been as thorough and safe as they should have been to give assurance that only suitable staff had been employed.
We saw that systems were in place to support staff in their role.
