All Inspections

3 October 2013

During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment, they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. Where people did not have the capacity to consent, the provider acted in accordance with legal requirements.

One patient told us, 'They tell me the details of what is to be done, options regarding the cost and the options of treatment too. I then agree if I am happy to proceed before they start any treatment'. Another patient said, 'The dentist sought my consent, explained what he was going to do before proceeding and I agree with the treatment'.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

We spoke with two patients who used the practice about their experience of Strood Dental Centre. They told us that they liked the practice. They commented, 'It's been brilliant. I used to be a nervous patient but the dentist made me feel at ease at every visit. I feel looked after and cared for'.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
