During a routine inspection
.
We were shown examples of treatment plans and we saw that these were offered to patients.
We saw that there was a clear system in place which ensured that instruments were transferred, decontaminated, examined, sterilised and stored consistently. We saw that the practice was clean and records showed that it was cleaned daily and all areas had been ticked as completed. This shows that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.
We observed that staff received appropriate professional development which included medical emergencies. We were shown details of the dental nursing training programme which was organised by the provider.
We saw that a detailed patient record audit had been carried out for all three dentists and these had been reviewed and improvements had been suggested and agreed with the lead dentist. This showed that people's medical records were accurate and fit for purpose.
