During a routine inspection
We looked at six patient records during our inspection; these included medical history forms and treatment plans. These were all up to date and people using the service had signed them to indicate their agreement to treatment.
A dental nurse demonstrated the decontamination procedure that they followed to sterilise equipment. Dental nurses also carried out a number of other cleaning checks to reduce the risk and spread of infection. One staff told us "we run the suction lines every morning" and "we have 30 minutes at the end of the day to clean the rooms".
Training records showed that staff had completed training in a number of different areas such as infection control, safeguarding and dealing with medical emergencies. Clinical staff also had current registration certificates with the General Dental Council (GDC).
Patient satisfaction surveys that we saw showed that St Martins Dental Practice scored consistently higher than its peers both locally and nationally.
