Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

On the day of inspection, we received patient feedback from 10 patients. All 10 patients told us they would recommend the practice to family and friends. Staff helped patients to be involved in decisions about their care and gave patients clear information to help them make informed choices about their treatment. Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. The practice collected patient feedback and reviewed it on a regular basis to look for themes and trends. The outcome of the patient satisfaction survey was displayed in the waiting room and feedback was discussed in practice meetings.

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. One staff member said, ‘I feel involved and any contributions I make are taken on board’. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff. In response to the outcome of a previous staff satisfaction survey, they engaged an external consultant to support the team in developing a team charter. This helped staff members to take ownership of the organisational values.

We did not receive any information from partners.

The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records, and paper records were stored securely and complied with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
